Network Homes Mental Health Corp., had been founded because of a major problem with mental health issues in our prison system today. We have seen an increase of those with a mental illness in the justice system of up to 40% within the last 10 years, and more than 60% over the last 20 years.

The reason for such an increase is due to the lack of mental health treatment for any forms of mental illness outside of our justice system. Most states have closed down those mental health treatment facilities they once operated, and replaced those facilities with a prison sentence instead, which has lead to the criminalization of mental illness.

Currently there are mental health treatment centers that will help those with a mental illness, but the average mental health treatment program is about 54 days nationwide, and most of the time the patients end up inside our prison system.

This is the reason why the founder (Todd Olshefski) of Network Homes Mental Health Corp., decided to find a solution to this problem. He has put together a team of Mental Health Counselors, an Assisted Living Administrator with over 30 years of knowledge of mental health services in mental health centers, and a Skilled Nurse with over 30 years experience in mental health treatment.

Right now more than 35% of each prisons population, Nationwide, is made up of the mentally ill which are unable to be released because of the lack of mental health treatment facilities. Mentally ill inmates with a 2 year prison sentence end up incarcerated at least twice as long as their original sentence. The way our Judicial system is set up the mentally ill can only be released into a mental health treatment facility. Currently mental health treatment facilities do not offer a long-term mental health treatment program.

The reason we started Network Homes Mental Health Corp., was to help give those currently in prison with a mental illness a second chance in life and help them to become productive citizens.
